USS Stark
May 17, 1987 - Persian Gulf

USS StarkOn May 17, 1987 an Iraqi fighter jet fired two 352 pound missles at the USS Stark deployed to the Persian Gulf during the Iran-Iraq war killing 37 Americans. The first missle tore through the crew's quarters while the second missle hit the superstructure. The following 37 U.S. navymen lost their lives on that tragic day.
